Native Indian Inspired

Inspiration where do you find it?

Recently we took a family vacation and went to Bali, Indonesia.
It has been 19 years since I have been there, the last time was when Miranda was one year old.

The question that always comes up is where do you get your inspiration from, well most of the time I'm not quite sure, it could be as simple as a book I have read, a movie I have watched, or the models looks. sometimes it is an item I have found.
This shoot was inspired by a couple ideas.
Hannah my youngest daughter, has been very busy with her business Hannah's Hair feathers,
her and her cousin, Hilary spent last summer off to markets, putting in hair feathers for customers and designing feather earrings.
While we were on our vacation we found this head dress. Who would have thought that you would find this in Bali?
So this was the beginning of it all.
Sophie Leach the make up and hair artist, and I been going back and forth with ideas, and this is what we came up with.
These photos were taken up in a Jebel on the way to Hata border.
My lighting assistant, Bryson, a little tired at the beginning of the shoot,
but got into it once we were there.
We were on location about 4 o'clock, it was a little windy at our first stop, so we snuck around into the rocks and found it a little less stressful.

Here is a link to Hannahs Hair feathers, enjoy... always a pleasure.

Tucker

It's in my Genes

I spent this morning with Tucker and his Mom, and did we have a busy morning.
Little tucker is now 7 weeks old and as cute as ever.
He is a busy little boy, who doesn't like to sleep too much.
I think he is afraid, he is going to miss out on something exciting....

The idea of this shoot is " it's in my Gene's!"
Hence all the pairs of jeans as the background.

And Tucker, was a patient little fellow, well most of this session.
I felt like it was mostly watching Tucker make his faces. As he has many expressions, that are such a joy to observe.

For this shoot, I used one large soft box, with two layers of diffusion to soften the light. I didn't want any hard shadows, falling on his skin in the shadow areas.
Most the time when I photograph babies, I like to have the room a little on the warm side but Tucker is Canadian, and he likes it cold. He was most comfortable when the air conditioning was turned on and butt naked, happy as one could be!

He likes his soother....

Thinking about having a nap...

 Well, maybe not!
Tucker loves his cuddles, and is most Happy when Mom is holding him and loving him...

How sweet are little boys? Who ever said they are made out of Rats and Snails, and puppy dog tails?

Happy Halloween from Tucker!

Thanks to his Mom and Dad for the opportunity to photograph this beautiful little boy!

Big thanks to all the sponsors of the event,
Bareface, Grazia, Inglot and Burjuman Center.

What a fun night, full of glitz and glam!
For all my photo friends, I took most of these photos with my 70-200 lens, Nilon D3. A fairly slow shutter speed, as I was trying to capture the ambient lighting. I did use a bit of fill light with my SB800 flash when needed. There where hot lights around the stage which gave me enough light to hand hold the camera and not use the tripod, my ISO was at 400 for most of the evening.
If you have any questions, never hesitate to ask!
